annoying false on everything it touches

Why is my deus 11 coil falsing on everything it touches. basic 1, gm power, or deus fast if I swing it and hit a root, corn stalk or even a blade of grass "lol" it sends a tone. Its very sensitive to the touch. Things I have done
1. asked this question on facebook deus site with many responses nothing helped
2. lowered sens
3. lowered disc setting
4. reinstalled version 3.2
5. talked to it and asked it to behave or im getting the at-pro out
6. tried custom programs and again lowered sensitivity

I turn on my machine and wait for it to complete load up until I hear chatter. Than I turn on deus fast and set my iron to 2 than gb tracking. Im off swinging. If I wiggle the coil it falses also. Its very frustrating. I called Moe at the repair and he told me to reinstall v3.2 im still having issues. Also note the machine is 2 months old and ive used it maybe 15 times with great care
ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED

Go to "GB" tab and hit "Expert"

This is the "notch ground" feature. You will need to add one or more points of ground notch to eliminate the "concussive falsing" you are experiencing. Here's a video:

My god. Thank you for the video and if this corrects the issue I owe you big time. I was thinking I had a bad coil :(

czconnoisseur Thank you very much. Ill be happy to use her again.

Hi...you might still have a bad coil ! I sent mine back and they said there is nothing wrong with it. I was turning the sensitivity down to 72 before the falsing stopped. There are some bad 11 inch coils about , so I have been told.
Try manual GB on 90 ....TX on 1 with sensitivity on 88, and see if it helps, I tried the things on the above film and it did nothing for me.
My coil seems to have settled down now but I am not happy with it.
Make sure you let the coil light stop flashing brightly before you press the sound button when you first switch it on.
Check when you put in the 3.2 version it gives your correct coil number.
Please come back online if you find the problem...cheers.

Thank you. I will give it a try. Itll be close to 5 or 6 days before I take the deus back out again. I will try the video above posted than try your advice. Thank you to everyone who responds

My 11" has got to go back, it was chattering away so much in stubble I could not hear to signals.

still haven't tried what the guy in the video showed. I will tomorrow. But again today the coil was falsing on everything. I can hold the coil up in the air and wiggle the shaft and it sounds like a machine gun bap bap bap bap bap and so on. However I called moe at detector electronics and he didn't no what really to say. Im lost and frustrated. I may just sell it and stick with the garrett.

Well, you should set the ground notch and shake it to see if the trouble goes away. You don't have to field test it to see if ground notch alleviates the problem.

So if you take your detector out it hits on a confirmed target that should not give a tone what so ever????? Heck, that is annoying. I will say this, I hear nothing but good things about CS and turn around time. Get that baby sent in and back. Now mine gets some chatter but does not hit on things that are obviously non-metallic what so ever. It is a very sensitive machine however and while in the field it hits alot but it is mostly that static chatter of trace elements from the type of soil where I live in NC. The main road in my area of the county I live off is not named "Iron Mountain Rd." for no good reason:surprised:

Learning the tones of this machine is paramount from what I am experiencing and reading from the knowledgable folks who have mastered this detector,.

yes under warranty. Just got off the phone with them again. They said it defenitly doesn't sound good. So I will ship it out "on my cost of course" to the repair facility. I hunted with another deus user and they didn't have the issue. Im frustrated as now im missing a hunt this weekend using my deus

Main thing is once you get it back and they have it fixed..............you will be lighting it up!

They don't charge to ship it back to you, but if you like, they will two-day ship it back to you if you request it. All you'll have to pay is the difference between the upgraded shipping.

Not sure where you bought the Deus but since it is weeks old, it's a little surprising that the dealer did not simply swap out the coil and take care of the warranty replacement . . . at least that's what several of us do if there is an infant mortality issue - even if it was a mail order purchase.

I'd see if the dealer will take care of any out of pocket costs associated with the replacement . . . . odd to have an issue with a Deus however - sorry you got the one bad coil in the batch.

Hope you get straightened out and back in the field quickly

Andy
