I'll try to make this brief but things seem to get really complicated when you deal with this individual. I contacted Bill after seeing a post on the Finds Minelab Sovereign/Excalibur Forum. After some discussion I bought a used Excalibur from him. I sent him a US Postal Money on 11-01-2010. When I finally got the machine I took it out to my local beach for a quick hunt in the wet and dry sand. It performed pretty well and got good depth . (not bad i thought) A few days later I took it out in the water. It worked well until I moved into deep water then it suddenly made an awful noise and died. Fearing the worst I got out of the water immediately. I tried turning it off and on but it was dead. I came home immediately and put it into a sink filled with fresh water. I couldn't believe it, the control box tube was bubbling like crazy from both ends. I contacted Bill immediately via email telling him the bad news. I asked him if he had leaked tested it before he shipped to me. (Bill isn't ever quick to respond after he has your cash, he either doesn't read his emails or reads them and ignores them) Anyway, I finally got an email from him and he stated he had leak tested it. ( can't believe it as bad as it was leaking) After some discussion he stated we would give me a refund but i would have to wait until the end of December. I waited patiently until the end of the month and sent him an email asking him when I'd get the refund. He stated he was moving money around from different accounts and he hadn't forgotten about me. I then asked him to be more specific, when would I get my refund? I never got an answer, no more emails from Bill. Finally I sent him an email stating I felt like he had broken his word and would give him to the 15th of January. I stated that if I hadn't received word from him by today i would assume he had no intention of refunding my money. Well, no response from Bill. For you guys who may have had good dealings with him, consider yourself lucky. I don't remember who posted his email information on the forum but I regret having ever seen the post. So, I have a dead Excalibur and he has my money. If any of you guys have any interest in a dead Excal let me know. Right now I have not interest in trying to revive it. I suppose the headphones, coil and battery pack are still OK. John, if you are reading this you have my deepest sympathy. After dealing with Bill I believe everything you have to say about your deal with him. End of Story.
