Another Coil Question

I have a friend with a F-44 and is looking for a small coil. Will my F-19 5" DD work on it? My old coil notes say yes (or am I wrong) but how about the efficiency? The '44 freq. is 7.69 vs. !9.2 for the '19. The 7.69 X 2.5= 19.2 but not sure antenna wave length applies to detector coils. Would there be a power loss or a mismatch? Your comments are appreciated and thanks.

Woody,
The F44/F5/Omega coils interchange with the F19/Goldbug/g2 models without any performance loss. Any differences you see are due to target vs frequency relationships.

What Mike said.

When I had my F44, I used to swap coils at will between my F19, F44 and F5. It's one of the valued aspects of having a low and high frequency detector from the same company that can swap DD coils between them.

Mike & Mike gave you correct answers. I have the 5" DD on a spare lower rod for use on my Teknetics Omega 8000's, or two swap onto other models that interchange the same search coils. I have preferred smaller-than-stock search coils for decade and that is because I mainly search confined, brush, building rubble and trashier sites.

I also work some places that are a little more open with a little less trash and thanks to a suggestion by 'coin king' I got a Fisher 7" Concentric from him that I use on my Omega 8000 full-time. My other switchable Teknetics/Fisher coils, including my 5" DD, are in my Accessory Coil Tote in case I want or need them. So depending upon the types of sites and applications your friend is looking to search with their F44, they might also want to consider the small-to-midsized, round, 7" Concentric Fisher coil (screw-on connector) which is the same coil used on the F11.

Just my thoughts,

Monte

O.K. guys, thanks. Brilliance and knowledge always comes through.

I just purchased a EuroTek Pro. It came with a 8" coil. I also have a Fisher F75 LTD, the coils are swappable and have the same VDI for the same targets.

But they won't ground balance right and you'll lose sensitivity.

Isn’t it great to have a guy like Dave J lurking in the background? The bottom line answer from someone in the know. Thanks Dave. Love these forums!
