Another Day, Another Silver...

My buddy Jack and I went and hit a couple of new spots, looking for some silver action. We struck out at one and struck a little at another very trashy site. But we both hit silver. He got a '43 Merc and a '43 Rosie in the same hole, stuck together. And another silver Rosie, a 1950 I think.

Me, I got a very rough 1930 Standing Liberty. But it's my first SL of 2006 and my first with the Explorer II, so I'm happy. Also bagged a little clad but nothing else of interest. Here are a few pics.

Here's my quarter, fresh out of the hole...

The Fisher machines never disappoint with the silver either...his is a CZ-7a Pro...I have a CZ-70 also.

Yeah, it's definitely the nastiest one I've ever dug. I think fertilizer was the culprit. But it's been a while since I dug one, so like you said "I'll take it!" :)

I agree, but it was actually nowhere near the beach. It was from the lawn of an old school and I think it was fertilizer that did it dirty like that. Oh well.

WTG Mike!! That is one ugly SLQ, but silver is silver in my book. It's too bad it wasn't in better shape. Got out for a couple of hours yesterday before the big game and my machine seems to working fine now after I got it dried out. HH.

Everybody is busting on my ugly duckling SLQ...

Glad to hear your machine is better...I hate when I have a sick machine. That's why a good "backup" machine is so important!

I've found a few and this is actually my first one that didn't look pretty nice. Below is a pic of one I found in a tiny little park in downtown Brunswick Georgia a few years ago when I was visiting my in-laws and out with my Brother-in-law.

It's even the same year, but what a difference huh? This is one of my favorite coins.

This is another of my favorite quarters and also probably my nicest coin find, condition-wise. This was found in a field in Suffolk Virginia a few years ago. I have found a pretty large number of silver coins over the years but finds this nice are few and far between for me. But they ARE out there.

Thanks bro. Hopefully we call all get together next weekend to do some detecting. I know there are a few more good coins left at that spot we hit yesterday. And we also have your spots to try. As of now, the weather looks good for Sat/Sun. Let me know how it looks for you getting out.

Yes, I agree. I wondered about that myself, as I remarked to Jack that I didn't realize that they had co-existed. I looked it up later myself and saw that the Rosie started in 1946. I din't actually see the date on the Rosie but did see the Merc, but he thought it was a '43. I suspect it was a '48 and the fact that it still had some dirt on it may have made him mis-read it. I'll have to wait to ask him though, since he left on business for California and won't be back until the weekend. I'm sure you're right and doubt that it really says 1943. If it does I suppose that would be a potentially valuable find.
