Bill is a professional when it comes to using metal detectors, and his finds reflect this-just look at his photos. He has the technical expertise or he would not have been used before by FISHER for testing. He takes the time not only to hunt locally, but travels to see how a detector performs over a wide range of varying mineral matrix's, and as we all know, no field testers are paid any money. I know Bill has tested most other makes and models, and continues to do so and could use ANY MAKE-but he also continues to prefer to use :fisher: for a very simple reason:FISHER is the best. [And his qualified opinion is unbiased because he is not a dealer.] Its no big secret that some new models have had start-up problems, and while many owners got rid of their detectors he did not because he had enough faith in the company to know the bugs would be worked out-and he was right.
Bill does not lose us in technical jargon but speaks in a way that is easy to understand. Also Bill is easy to contact and really does provide insightful answers and programs about trying to get the best performance from a detector. I suspect all of those demonstrations at schools and other places have brought many new [Fisher] enthusiasts into the hobby.
So when the F-5 and F-70 are ready to be tested, please remember one of your best advocates.

No disagreement here. Trouble is you're preaching to the choir. Let Fisher know your feelings.
 
With the new Fisher Bill's centerfold status has been downgraded..Certainly a shame as he did a good job in his efforts providing good info in the field.
 
I will be back in one form or another......I have some unique new ideas for field testing, and advance copies of my treasure hunting DVD I have slipped out are getting rave reviews.
I still average 2 private messages or e-mails a day from folks asking various questions or my advice on Fisher products, detecting, etc. So, hopefully I'll get a shot at trying & posting feedback on some of the upcoming new units so I don't have to turn people away. Everyone thinks I still have an "in" I guess.....

I found out they read the other Fisher forum though. Mike Scott gave me a little ensight about the change in their rep and distributors responsibilities.---Wade
 
Instead of getting a version of a detector before its finalized, maybe even by borrowing someone's detector, I hope you will continue
to test and evaluate in your normal manner. I have come to find that you are the one person that can be depended on to tweak a detector and get the best results from it-there always seems to be some little tricks with each detector that allow it to do things for that little "extra". I know many people did not like the C$ and it got a bad rap early on that pretty much killed it. But the things you and Mr Bill told me to do really made a big difference, and the C$ is the most under appreciated detector on the market because its a real BLOOD HOUND once you properly learn it. I must say trying to use it in the same fashion as a CZ DOES NOT BRING GOOD RESULTS, and Fisher never really properly promoted it. Plus if they had done what they said and made update chips who knows what the situation would be. I will be hanging on to mine even though I have the F-75 now.
So keep on hunting and let us know if you've learned anything new.:thumbup:

Bill,probably has a long successful career ahead of him in this industry and still has the ability to sell products through endorsements and support.I think the metal detector industry is flat at this point with technology and enthusiastic support personnel.

I've been biting anyone who bashes without back-up and it has bene quiet for a week.

When you put it up that a five year warranty is STILL 2.5X better than Whites', Garretts' or Minelabs' (5X better than their coil warranty) and that the recent upgrade was NOT a recall it kind of takes the wind out of their sails. Or the hot air, anyway.

And Tesoro has a lifetime warranty . . . but what is there to break? A knob?
