The reason for the coin screen.
If a coin is sitting becide a piece of junk like a pull tab, bottle cap, foil etc, the machine is trying to read both targets, this is why you get a mixed audio and the crosshairs jump around. When you use the coin screen the machine is still reading both targets and the crosshairs still jump around but you only hear the good target. This makes for allot less confusion and you can go arround plucking out the goodies.
