Another tot lot with many coins...

Went out just to break:detecting: my 4,000 goal coin count today. I found a neighborhood park on the map and it was on the way to the parks I wanted to hit. Not in the best of areas, I lived near there 40 years ago and then it wasn't the best of neighborhoods. I stopped and it was a very small park with 2 black top basketball courts. The black top was all broken up and grass growing out between the cracks. The play area was 50' x 150' with wood chips and nothing in this little park was in good shape not even the fence around it.
I am here so lets go at it. :starwars:
First swing, :surprised: a dime and it went on and on. 3 or 4 targets within inches of each other. Almost all targets on the surface, some I could eye ball. Only a few target were 3" to 4" down. I went home from there with 120 Coins from this little neighborhood park. Also found some trinkets.
Appearances aren't always what they seem to be...
Thanks for reading and Happy Trails ....Z

A run down park in a run down part of town.

You are probably the first detectorist to risk it in a long time, although it all looks rather new. Nice haul and glad you made it home safe!

I drove the city bus in these areas for decades. But I don't hang out in these areas anymore now that I am retired. But it is a risk detecting in any area of a big city. I use my light head phones and people were out today working on cars and doing out side work. You are right, you have to stay tuned to the environment and when something isn't right, :chase: move on out or don't start detecting.
I find that these little neighborhood parks are great producers. Only the locals know about these parks and of course people like me that look at maps. It took me 2 days to clean out a very small neighborhood park in a very nice area. This is the little park that the police were at, finger printing little kids. I got well over 200 coins from that little park.
Thanks for reading and Happy Trails.....Z

You made a good haul as well, zeekeys. Mine was a litle smaller then yours, about 30 x 50. Usually at this school the lawn where the kids play around the chips lot holds more coins then the chips. Hope so, as I'm going to hunt that after church tomorrow. HH jim tn

Jim you had a real good day too. Your right about around the wood chips in the grass. I get many good signals next to the wood chips/sand but I can't get down on my knees very good anymore. I just pass the targets up. I don't want to do more harm to my knees. I want to keep mding as long as I can so I use a long handled sand scoop and only hunt in sand/ wood chips areas. :detecting:
Growing old is great. I get to do what I want, when I want, where I want, for as long as I want. :beers: I get up in the morning and ask my wife what she wants to do? She says I got house work, get out of here so I go detecting. She wants to go shopping, I go detecting when she is shopping. She gets her hair done, I go detecting. Sold the house and rent, if anything needs to be fixed I call the office and go detecting. Ahhhh life is great when you get to an older age. :clapping:... I am feeling a little tired so I think I will put my feet up in the recliner and take a nap. I don't care what time it is that is what I want to do..
Thanks for reading :wiggle: and Happy Trails.....Z

Hey z, you and I are about in the same boat. Wife and I hit the gym about 5:30a for about a hour and shortly thereafter I'm off for about 4 hours of detecting. My during the week outings are for the older coins and relics and then on weekends I go for quanity. Hang in there. Detecting keeps us young. HH jim tn

Gad Jim what is this word "gym"? "5:30" ? When I get to be 130 than I will start to exercise. 5:30 that is the time that I have gotten up for the 12 time to go to the bath room for the night.
Love detecting.... Happy Trails.....Z

many parks like that in my neck of the woods too!..used to be nice neighborhoods, however over the years became run down, and crime ridden...i have hunted some of these parks and have brought home some nice "keepers",but always remained alert and vigilant!..nice haul!..well worth the effort!

Les I realize I am on my wind down time of my life. I can't keep moaning and groaning about my lot in life. It is time to experience as much wonder and awe as I can in the little things because that is what most of my life has been about, little things. Enough..:beers:.. Happy Trails....Z
