Answer to the coil weight question that comes up from time to time

Every month or two, the question of how much do the various coils weigh - 1050 coil, Slimline coil & Pro coil.

I had to go to the Post Office today so I tossed them in the truck and weighed them on their scale . . . .

Here are the weights:

- 1050 Coil (Used on the Explorer S, XS & II as well as the Quattro): 1 pound 7.2 ounces
- Slimline Coil (Used on the Explorer SE): 1 pound 5.4 ounces
- Pro Coil (Used on the Explorer SE Pro, E-Trac and Safari): 1 pound 2.5 ounces.

As you can see in the photo, the big difference between the two earlier coils and the Pro coil is the mounting point which really eliminates the "nose heavy" nature of the other coils and while not way different in weight on the scale, it feels way lighter in the field.

If anyone is interested in the weights of some of the other coils, let me know and I can amend this post.
