Any comments on the F4?

I've been looking at the F4. Anyone have any info on them? Depth with the 11"DD..?

I you get the F5 and DD coil the connector can be changed later for use on Omega. Or just buy the Omega to start with. They have a deal going now with the 11" coil.

We have an f2 and an f4 with 4", 8" 10" and 11"dd coils to swap around . Really there is not much between them if you want to just turn on and go as far as depth and speed. I like the F4 because I like to do things manually sometimes and have a more serious hunt in all metal mode for things I'm guessing the auto f2 would miss.. I'm saying I guess because I haven't tested it out yet... but I think its likely. I am planing on doing a side by side comparison .. all coils.. same settings.. best possible setting etc, just to see what I come up with. I'll stick it up on my blog when I do. One thing I have noticed with the pin pointing on in an air test you pick up signals for a large distance... maybe two and a half feet for a coin.... I don't know if this is true for all detectors with the pinpointing function as I haven't had many to compare with.. it was just a surprising observation.

While owning the F4, & then reading comments from owners of any of the fisher F series it seem the vast majority including myself are more than very happy if not enthrawled with their F of their choice. The F4 to me is Fast, Highly selective, A true coin magnet, Lightweight, spot on pinpoint & with the bounty hunters coils especially the 4" mini is a cherry picker amongst the rough, Understandable tones as well as ID numbers means you soon learn to a high degree what your gonna or not gonna dig.....Here in UK the blessed number is 61 along with the 3rd tone =

Interested in the difference between F2 8 inch verses F2 10 inch verses DD @bthom when you do this could you use a NZ one or two dollar so I can do a comparison here in Perth. Thanks.
my air test is to move the coin away until i cant get a nice "repeatable" number. ie the correct number eg 64

Thats the plan... I even have some Aussie money around here to see if there is much of a difference.... I just need to prize the f2 off my sister in law for a bit to do it all.

Hey good luck with the F4, Here in UK my coin shooting sites are riddled with iron so much so its sometimes difficult to find a clean spot to ground balance in all metal mode, So i usually stick to Discrim set at five notches, That setting takes care of the trash for my initial search I then lower discrim down to reject just iron thereafter. Just a Reminder though about the F4 in all metal mode, Unfortunetly You dont get the tones & ID Numbers so for those relics youll be digging every signal....

Cheers Folks

Happy Hunting

It will mostly be for coin hunting, with some relic hunting tossed in. I have a Tesoro Vaquero also, it LOVES relic hunting.
The target ID will make coin hunting more enjoyable, especially with the little coil in the trashy parks I have around here.
After everything I've read and watched and heard from owners of the f4, I'll be happy if it performs as theirs do. The extras I want ( GB & AM w/adj thrshld ), the F4 has, to get those it cost around 400 bucks. I could get them on a cheaper detector, but I don't like the reviews I read on them. I looked at the x-terra 305, but I couldn't get anyone to say much about it, which I'm sure is a good detector. I looked at the manual on it, looked like just to much bouncing around on screen to adjust it. I'd have it screwed up all the time. :stars:
I trust fisher to be a good product, 5 yr wrnty, tops most of the high enders out there. Only Tesoro tops that, as far as I've seen.

I'm probably a bit late chiming in on this one, but my F4 has been great, and I think (after one use) it may have re-kindled my sons's interest in detecting. Enough said.

Thanks Furious T,
Never to late to hear a good review on a product you've just ordered. Also glad to hear your sons interests have been peeked. I know your feelings on that, just got my son and grandson involved in MDing. They are both enjoying it very much.
