I used to live in Knoxville and there is probably more places there to try than Sevierville/Gatlinburg area. I don't remember any parks to speak of in either place... a lot of it is recent construction from the heavy tourism industry in the area. Plenty of civil war sites in the area though.. if you had a connection or contacted a member in the local detecting club. Good luck, Mike.
