hi iam new to this hobby(got talked into quattro hope its a great choice) will be greatful of any help with using my minelab quattro mp thank u

I'd say the same thing, get Andy Sabisch's book Mastering the Quatro and read it a couple of times and study and practice it. I'd read all the post's here on this and other forums about the Quatro, and start practicing, and I think you're gonna love this machine. Marc Trainor.

E-Bay for one. I would think the sponsors of this forum probably sell it also. Would give them the business.

coin garden was the best thing I ever did. I hunt in ferrous, with no descrimination and wander around my yard and then just bump into my test coins like it was an accidental find. I started out at 5 inches on a silver dime. Now I have a penny at least 9 inches down to make it a challenge. The Q hits too hard on the 5 incher, its still clear at 9. One thing you must do, after digging the hole, pack the fill in only an inch at a time and pack it very tight, loose soil is worthless. Enjoy!

I got my book, Mastering the Quatro, from Kellyco. They're in Florida, but you can find their website on the internet and get phone numbers for them. I'd just call em and ask about it. They seem to be very friendly, helpful people. That's where I bought my book and my Quatro, and all my metal detector stuff. Marc.

thanks i live in uk postage from kellyco was more than book lol i have found it in uk now thanks 4 help

Good!!!!. Let us know what you find over there in the United Kingdom. I'd be very curious. I have a very close friend from Liverpool. I hear theres some really old sites in Britain. Love to hear how you do. Marc Trainor.

hi been park hunting just getting used too quattro;set sensitive about half 12 in coin mode first find foil then loud high pitched tone Victorian half penny 1889 about 6 to 8 inches next high tone 1856 Napoleon cinq about 4to 6 inches centime couple new 1ps and 2ps modern coins 2 George v Penny's & half penny 1911 1921 great fun found it a little iffy at first on auto then reduced sensitive to 12 thats when i got my coins

That's pretty interesting. You obviously found some great old coins. Were you using auto sensitivity before or did you just have it "cranked up" to a 19 or 20? I'm just wondering, because it sounds like the number 12 sens did it for you. I'm also wondering if you use the ground balance a lot or at least from time to time to try and get the stability more even? Just curious. At any rate, sounds like your movin' and groovin' as we would say here in the states. :yo: Beachguy.

hi last time i had sensitivity on auto very iffy slowly reduced sensitivity till it was very stable, didn't get stable until i reduced it to 12 had to constantly noise cancel on auto but on 12 only used it once it was fine for the rest of time.i went 2 day in a very trashy area had 19 George 5th coins some nice old army buttons lots of shot gun cartridges bases,i cant seam to get sensitivity above 12 as its becomes very unstable any advice that may help thanks

Try setting the trash to low, threshold to about 12-13, and sensitivity to 13-14. Thats pretty much what I use, I can rarely ever get the sensitivity up past 16, too much interference in the area. Keep in mind that the tones and target id's may change slightly with each variance.

The Book is definitely a great help. Especially in setting up your own saved programs.

hi got the book still reading it !!
thank u 4 ur help all info gratefully received i think the main thing is to practice a lot which will be great, most of what i have read says sensitivity should be set to auto, i find this very iffy & on a lower setting will i lose any depth ?, have started to find a lot of coins with my pal he is an old hand at detecting and most of the time had alot more coins than me(park hunting) but last time i was up there with him he has a minelab sov gt & says its best thing since sliced bread

His soverign may be the best thing since sliced bread, but, just tell him that's great, but you have the sliced bread, and see what he says.:twodetecting::wiggle::crazy:That's if he's a pretty easy going guy and can take a little "ribbing".

Good deal, I'm glad you could find it over there. Let us know here on the forum how your doing. I'd especially be interested, because you live in the United Kingdom. Probably some very interesting places to treasure hunt. Let us know how it's working for you. :|Marc (beachguy777)

Absolutly love mine..If you have room, BUILD A TEST GARDEN..That has helped me tremendouly..I've even buried my first gold ring to help me along, besides, I know I can always find it:twodetecting::clapping::super:
