ANY IDEAS OF WHAT THIS IS ? AND I DON'T MEAN THE DIME

Hey Mr. Cal,
I`ve found a couple of these through the years. Actually what you have is half of a Victorian buckle for a "Lady`s Ribbon Belt." Another piece interlocked with your piece to complete the design.
Years ago I was detecting around an old house out in the country near the South Carolina line that had fallen in and which dated to before the turn of the century. I found a very similar piece to yours and some other jewelry bits. My piece also showed a Victorian lady`s head (facing right, surrounded by orchids.)Two years later I went to the same house and in the same general area found the other half (an almost identical piece as the first with a lady`s head facing left also surrounded by orchids.) To find both pieces that far apart was pretty cool in itself- but when you put the two pieces together- from a distance the buckle looked like the face of a bear or a lion! I`ve still got that piece somewhere- I`ve had it 20 years. I`ll try to find it and show it to you guys. Anyway Cal ... NICE FIND!!!
God Bless,-- Charlie in NC

Thank you very much for the information I found it about two years ago and wondered what it was.
