Any input on Excelerator coils on Tesoros?

I am using the 15 x 12" "DD" SEF Butterfly Search Coil.

I would not say that it isn't much more than an inch deeper than the factory coil. Depth is actually close to similar. That said, it hits on middle-depth targets pretty hard and was pulling quite a few deeper on-edge targets that may have been missed by other detectorists as a result. I acquired it to cover ground efficiently and it has to come off if the trash gets to average park levels. I've probably used it more than any other coil in my line-up - it gives me most of the advantages of the cleansweep without budging on depth.

One thing that I will say is that it pinpoints kinda funky. I prefer to flag the targets that are at depth (i.e. beyond the range of my pinpointer) and come back with another detector to get centered up. The problem is that after 3" the targets no longer are really falling off the edge of the coil and tend move increasingly more and more towards the center of the coil. The targets at max depth can be very close to the center of the coil which is more than 6" from the edge - it can be a little bit of frustration, but flagging and pinpointing with another coil or detector cleans it up.

Anyhow, I'd have no problem recommending this coil in particular. I don't really see the point in getting anything that is in dimensions similar to an existing Tesoro coil, but the big ones can help you get some tasks accomplished as long as you have the arm to swing them.
