Any Louvin Brothers Fans Out There?

New member
Greetings, all!
From Aerosmith to the Louvin Brothers: Ain't PROGRESS grand! Anyway, I was just listening to 20 Greatest Gospel Hits by the Louvins in the car and was curious as to anyone being a fan? LOVE...LOVE...LOVE the song "Why Not Tonight?" about coming to Jesus scathed to be bathed. LOVE that "hick" country gospel and the unsulliedness honesty of bluegrass. When I'm out in the yard with my little toy detector, it's time to sing (uh, quietly) some Louvin gospel.
Any Louvin fans out there?

may have and never gave it a thought. BTW Welcome to the forum Kenn. Glad to have you here with us. I will check on the Louvin Brothers and will probably add them to the music selection I have on my internet DJ station (so to speak): http://www.Blip.fm/MinisterPete

God bless you and yours Kenn.

Greetings, Minister Pete!
I hope you like what you hear when you hear them! Charlie Louvin is still living, he's in his mid-80's. His bother, Ira, was killed in a car wreck in 1965, I think it was. Elvis has said that they were his favorite gospel duo. Just love their music.
Blessings,
Kenn

I like their music alot. Old enough to remember old time gospel but young enough to love the Conetemporary Christian music too. (Still not into 'rap' even with Christian words...like a contradiction in terms...music of the devil with words of God. (Just my opinion). Thanks Kenn

I like some southern Gospel, but I love bluegrass gospel and regular bluegrass. I just went to the ryman in nashville to see Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky thunder 8 roles from the stage. My 3 year old daughter always tells me to put some fast bluegrass in my car cd player. She is a smart one.

I think I've heard of them and I'm certainly old enough to have heard them in Elvis' time! :) I like Southern Gospel and always liked Bluegrass with Lester Flatt and Earl Skrugs, grandpa Jones and many more! God Bless! Betty

Greetings, 7centsworth!
The ONE CD I can't get outta the player in my truck is "Three Pickers: Earl Scruggs, Doc Watson & Ricky Skaggs" recorded live in '06 I think. Alison Krauss comes onstage for a coupla songs. IT IS phenomenal. Not much in the way of gospel on there, but bluegrass music has so much more integrity than any other form of music, it has a gospel all its own. I may have discovered bluegrass well into my forties, but then I wouldn't have appreciated it as much if I'd been any younger. Threw away all my rock stuff. Believe me, I was the consummate headbanger in the seventies (high school) and the eighties (thinking like I was still in high school) and the nineties (pathetically addicted to whatever ya got). This music LIVES, ya know?
