Any of you Michiganders ever go to Frankenmuth?

I was just thinking about Christmas, and thought about the time I visited Frankenmuth. It was about 21 years ago, right after my wife and I were married, and we went to visit some friends that pastored a church in Flint at the time. They took us to Frankenmuth the day after Thanksgiving. At the time it was really neat, like a little German village all set up for Christmas. There was some giant Christmas store just south of town too. Is it still a Christmas town? We got one of my all time favorite ornaments there...a ceramic crescent man-in-the moon that has a Santa hat on. You put a light in a small hole in his nether-reaches and he glows a soft white color. Maybe I'll post a photo of his this Christmas.

That store you mentioned id Bronner's. They are closed one 1 day of the year...Christmas Day. They are known internationally and provide nothing but CHristmas related items.

The town is a Bavarian background town. They take great pride in their town and they like Bronners put out magnificent displays of Christmas lights.

This is the same town I mentioned early as taking a dear (and long passed) lady to so see the lights. I lived in Saginaw at the time. (In fact I was born and raised...well born in Saginaw and lived there until I went into the military back in 1969.) I returned to Saginaw after I got out in 1980. I have moved a lot since the late 1980s.

Frankenmuth is the location of the Volkslauf 10k run each year, and the Bavarian Festival. Lots of beer and German music during this event. Great town...wouldn't want to live there though....they are strict on keeping the place appealling to the eye.

But plan to visit there someday! It is Christmas 365 days a year there! :) I would like to see that ornament when you can! :)

My Daughter lives in Clio . The fried yard bird is great in Frankenmuth ( chicken ) Later Graw:yo:
