Any one heard of a sensitivity boost for the M6?

Any one heard :poke:of a sensitivity boost or upgrade for the M6?:detecting:

There is a post on the MXT forum where it was done to a MXT, I would think if they can do it to a MXT they could do it to the M6. Heres the link

I've been wondering about that as well. The MXT has mods for sensitivity boost, tones, and one other thing (can't remember). Since both of these machines seem like they might share most of the same hardware, with the major differences looking to be software, I would think these mods might very well be possible on the M6. I'm interested in hearing about this because a friend just bought an M6 and I may pick one up to add to my lineup as well.

By the way, I haven't read too much about this machine yet so this might be wrong, but I thought I came across something of interest on this topic. I believe I read somewhere that the reason why the M6 is a silent search detector is that the threshold has been turned down about 20% inside the unit. If there is an internal pot to adjust this you could drill a hole in the box for easy access and use a small screwdriver to adjust it's level in the field. Getting it just high enough to hear should increase your depth a bit more. All speculation on my part, though.

I think you may be right on that. It's been my understanding that the threshold is set just under audible. Personally, I like the threshold hum on the MXT and detect with it just slightly audible.

Man wouldnt that be great, having a threshold adjustment. I wish it had a mod to pick how many tones you wanna hear also.
Best,
John

The constant buzz of the MXT drives me crazy, if I turn sensitivity up as high as I can, the silent M6 works great.
