Any tips on use for a noob

I bought a cabelas pineridge model made by bounty hunter (I beleive it is the gold digger with a cabelas logo). I have had good luck with it so far but am aware that it will be harder usin that one compared to one that can piponit or can detect at deeper depths. The pineridge goes coins to 2' and largr items to 4'. I am not able to upgrade yet so long story short anybody own one, used to own one, or have any tips on using them. Like should I dig weaker signals hoping for deeper older items or only dig strong signals. Thanx for any advice.

Learn your machine. Each has good characteristics, but the equipment is only as good as the operator. Learn how to pinpoint using the X technique, if you don't have pinpointer. With practice, your results will improve. Should you dig weaker signals? If it is a consistent one, I would say yes. Some good finds have come from questionable digs. Remember, if you are coin shooting, nothing says it has to lay flat for you to find it. Your signal may be coming from an edge angle vice a flat one. You just never know till you dig.
