Anybody go from the Xterra 30 or 50 to the 505?

Has anyone went from the 30 or 50 to the 505? I had an xterra 50 a couple of years ago and let go of it. About 2 weeks after I sold it I started missing that little xterra 50 bigtime. I just purchased the 505 and it is on the way as I write this thread. I have been through a few detectors since I sold the xterra 50 and have never really been happy without my xterra 50 since. Now I cannot wait to receive the 505 comming this week. Can anyone fill me in on the xterra 505 performance? You just do not see many people talking about the 50 or 505 compared to the 70 and 705. I do not gold prospect so in my opinion I do not need the 70 or 705. With that being said I also know the 6" DD HF coil on my xterra 50 was the best darn tooting coin shooter I had ever owned. I had very good results with the stock coil also on my xterra but I also purchased the MF DD coil and although I liked it, I really did not notice a big difference in performance. The specs on the 505 look to be the similiar as the older 70 specs minus the gold program. All responses are welcome. Thanks Tim

Adding the ability to use the 3 kHz coil, updating the processor, implementing multiple tone capability and adding the manual ground balance made the X-505 ann even better detector than the X-50. And as you know, the X-50 was no slouch! In multiple tone mode, with zero discrimination, deep iron signals will provide a distinct audio response and give a pretty accurate TID, due to the -9 notch segment. (the other X-TERRA models do not have a -9) Depending on your soil conditions, you might want to check out that 3 kHz concentric. I've found it to be a silver and copper coin killer! HH Randy

Hey Randy, Thanks for the input. What part of the US do you live in? I am in Middle TN and only once or twice did I ever have to re adjust ground because of high mineralization. The soil here seems to be very mild and from my previous experiences with the xterra 50 I had, they are very positive. I found my first pockt spill and 3 barber dimes within the first few times out with it. With that relics and coins are not all that deep here in TN and my 50 performed very good. I have dug very old wheat pennies out of fields that were down about a foot but that is few and far between. All of the old coins I have ever dug seem to be 6 inches or less. I imagine the 3khz coil would be alot deeper for coins and goodies. I am very surprised that the 50 and 505 are not that popular among xterra users. The manual ground balance is real nice and not hard at all to set correctly. Auto ground tracking is a very nice feature on the 705 and 70 but I do not think it is worth the extra 200 bucks. I know it has the prospectig program also but I do not look for nuggets and since other alloys are put into gold to make it more rigid, I know the 505 should be able to be a very good jewelry picker too. I am looking forward to this very much. Tim
