Anybody know anythin 'bout remote car locks/alarms ?

Janet recently bot a '96 Grand Am from a local car dealer and she was given only one key for it.
Occasionaly, after you git out and lock the doors the horn will beep once as you walk away.
Could this mean that it has a remote lock system and they kept the remote and other key ?

It probably does have a remote lock system since it is a 96.............the parts department at a GM dealership can tell you for sure by looking up your VIN 'vehicle identification number' what the particular car was equipped with and the code for the lock.

Is there anything that we can look for on our own that would indicate there's one there ?

... and program it yourself. Save a ton of money.

If you financed the car thru the dealer they likely have the spare key and remote in case they need to repo it.

as per yer suggestion see if i can reprogram or jist go with a different remote with a different program.
I'm thinkin that jist because they have the remote doesn't keep us safe from someone in thier employ stealin it and then stealin Janet's car.
What easier way for a car thief to steal a car
