Anybody know what pearls are worth?

Found this ring with the Sorex pro today, rang up like a pulltab, looks home made but I believe the pearls are real though, anybody have any experience with pearls?

You might be surprised , I would think copper/brass wire would ring up with a high tone. I have heard you can test pearls by rubbing them against your front teeth and if if it feels gritty they are real , smooth means they are probably fake.
