Anybody on here do beekeeping?

I can put you in contact with them if you like?

Dennis----EVERYTHING. New to the hobby, so I have been doing research here lately. Going to attend the Indiana Bee Keeping School over in Indianapolis on Feb. 26th. It is an all day event with lots of experienced beekeepers and lots of info, so should help me alot. Any info you got would be appreciated also.

Hi DK, my grandpa used to keep bees in their hives on the hill side by the road and above our house when I was a small child! We sure liked the honey and bees wax from the hives...grandpa used to use a smoker and wore a hat with a veil to keep them from getting down in his clothes or stinging him in the face...it was fascinating to watch him gather the honey! Mom used te bees wax to make our flat irons smooth on the bottom so the irons whould slide over the clothes easier after heated on the stove and used to iron our clothes! I started washing clothes and ironing them at a very young age! No washing machine either, we had a black kettle for boiling water to wash the clothes and then a tub of water to rinse them in with a clothes line and bushes to hang or throw them on to dry. The wash area was near the spring, so the water would be close for hauling! Enjoy your new hobby and be sure you or the family aren't allergic to bee stings, as they could make you very ill or could be deadly without injections to counter-act the poison of the stings! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Hey, Ma. I collect those old "sad irons". Got quite a few in my collection. Until I learn how to read the bees actions, I will properly dress for the occasion.

Hi DK, I have a couple or so that mom had but I haven't collected them! I think I even have a toy one, but with my memory or lack of, I am not sure! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty
