Anyone care to comment on the 1225X? Which I find

to be much deeper than expected and good to use in the wood-chips.

That machine is as deep as models that cost 3 times as much. I have a 1212 that is almost as deep as my 1270. Actually it is as deep as my 1270. I just don't like admitting it.

I think you are right. It seems to be very deep, just not so many bells and whistles. I have a copper penny buried at 8" deep and it will hit that.

The Fisher 1225X is a decent unit,but has electrical interference issues not as stable compared with the 1235X or 1236-X2.I've had a 1212 and it just doesn't have the depth compared to the 1225X,even with the internal pot being set to the max.HH Ron

Ron, you're right. I just did a test in the soil with the 1270 with eliptical coil and the 1212 standard 8 inch coil. The 1270 is definately deeper but only by a couple of inches at most. I'd say thats pretty good for a 50 dollar 1212 off ebay. I'll have to see if the standard 8 inch coil is any deeper on the 1270 but I really like the eliptical coil on it. I use it exclusivly. Wish I could find another one in case this one breaks...it's old.

I have had 2 of them and I think they are very good basic units that are alot of fun. I miss mine alot. It is a very good metal detector. I found a silver ring the first time out with it. I also found alot of other goodies too. It is simple to use and easy to operate. good luck, Tim

models 1235 and like 1236 1265 much nicer to work with than 1225 and down
discriminate is so strong,,,,,,,,,THE BEST BAR NONE
fun to set it at 6 and get solid targets
