dug this up at an old house site from about 1840.
it's stamped brass i believe, about 4" across.

I'm not sure but that looks like the chicken leg eagle that is on a lot of the George Washington buttons. I have a friend that knows alot about that type eagle. I'll ask him and get back to you. Can you post a pic of the back? Great Find!!! Congrats

I'd say late 1700s to early 1800s. I see 13 stars which may varify that time frame. Is that writing on the ribbon? I swear I see U.S. written on the top right. No idea what it is but that thing sure looks old. Nice find!!!

i've never seen anything like it.
i actually found it a while ago, and the site i found it at has a highway paved over top of it now.
i wish i knew what the heck it was. <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
