Anyone ever try the Aquascan

Joe,

Just be aware that the Aquascan (AQ1B) is primarily designed for salt water diving.

As a result, the minimum pulse delay is set to 30uS....this delay will not pick up average gold rings past 4 or 5 inches !!!!

The 30uS min.pulse delay (goes up to about 50uS) is needed to counter the salt water signal which is significant past several feet and continues to generate larger signals the deeper you go.

Diving detectors (PI's from Aquascan and also JWFisher) are used to find big items from shipwrecks (gold bars, etc). These big targets are able to be detected due to their size (even with long pulse delays).

I have tried this detector from a dealer and although it is a great detector for what it is designed for, you will be disappointed if you are a shallow water hunter...if you're into diving then go for it.

I had to have my gold wedding band to about 3" from the coil of the AQ1B before it was detected.

I hope this information helps,

Tony.:ausflag:
