at the new jersey beaches. been there 3 times in the last week,(all different beaches too) found nothing but a few clad coins. anyone having some luck there.

This past Sunday in Atlantic City I found a scallop shaped cut area of wet sand that produced 6 wheat cents and three encrusted discs that will need some electrolysis when I get home. I am hoping the encrusted discs are dimes so there is a chance of silver, but they may be pennies. Can't read the dates on three of the wheats, they have been tumbled in the sand for a while. Also turned up about $2.50 in clad and a small brass fitting in that cut plus a dollar bill as I was walking to the cut. Pickings seemed a bit slim, but 6 wheats from one small area is a hint of hope. Plus there was lots of gold walking around the area draped on people.

PS In that same cut also found a stainless fork stamped Boston Hotel. It is beat up and bent, but doesn't seem like a new loss at the beach. It was a good foot down and google searches are not turning up a Boston Hotel anywhere near the area. Maybe it was brought in from out of town.

trv just found out they dropped 2 feet of dredged sand onto the beaches in ac and other areas. i knew thos beach rakes didnt do that good of a job. need to find a good area there.

From what I saw last year when I was here, compared to now, looks like 6 to 10 feet or more of sand pumped in depending on where you are. Towards the water the wet sand is cut down several feet from the level dry sand area. Could use some more cutting.

Got another wheat penny today and spent half the day resting, nursing a sore foot. Ran into Surfdigger and he confirms not a lot right now. He mentioned the spot I got the first 6 wheats is an area being excavated so the excavation probably brought up the wheats. Supposed to get hotter tomorrow and that may bring out more people and more fresh drops. Surfdigger was thinking the hunting should heat up by July 4th.

We are heading home in the morning.
Cheers,

I'm in Ocean City for vaca this week, if anybody else wants to get together somewhere around here. Last night I found a slew of bottle caps, couple dollars in clad, and an ear ring that I'm pretty sure is fake diamond. Not near as much as I used to find in the past. Saw a herd of folks with detectors, but most were swinging wildly, so I don't think they found much. My detector burnt up on Monday, but Joe DeMarco hooked me up with an awesome deal on an Excal II, so I'm all excited now! I love this thing!!
