Anyone here have or use home weather stations or weather radios?

I just ordered a Davis Instruments Pro2 weather station to replace a Honeywell weather station that has died after 5 years of use. I also picked up a Sangean CL-100 weather radio that has the NOAA S.A.M.E. technology built into it. I like how it auto alerts when there is extreme weather in our area. Tornado's suck and I'd rather be forewarned instead of caught off guard.

So do any of ya's have these things at your house?

Hello Butch,

Yes, but it's only on when we turn it on. It's just a weather radio specifically tuned to two weather
frequencies. I imagine we could get something much more sophisticated, but now that I do much
of my work doing research on the internet, I have good weather access.

The major concerns here are earthquakes, for which there aren't any really great prediction
capabilities, the rare tornado, two in my lifetime, and heavy snow.

We do have ADT and I suspect they may have something we can add in that regard, but we haven't
looked into that as yet.

I'm sorry that I wasn't of more help.

Respectfully,

The Nutty Teacher

.....just wondering if anyone else here has these items. The weather radio with SAME technology allows the user to keep their radio on continuously, monitoring your local weather frequency. It remains silent until you either override it to hear NOAA weather or when a weather event in the listening area prompts a weather warning. It will then send an alert tone and then provide you with the NOAA weather alert.

Around here during the summer months we will sometimes get some serious weather events ( ask Elson :) )

As for the weather, I like being able to see what's out there at a glance. The weather stations can be as simple or as detailed as you want to get depending on what you want to monitor.

Thanks!
