Anyone near Laredo Texas?

Hey folks,

Looks like I am headed to Laredo for several months, and I want to find someone who detects down there. I will be working quite a bit, but when I have a day or two off, would like to hunt that old town. Anyone on board who is down in that area?

Gracias and Thanks!

Dennis

I am in Fort Worth, further than Houston....thanks wiseguy, but you ain't a help.....!

Hey Dennis. I don't live in Texas but have read recently about some new Texas law that prohibits taking anything that is more than 50 years old. A guy who wrote one of the classic books on coin hunting is named Dick Stout. He is a very respected guy in this business. He lives in Texas and he has a coin shooting web site ti-tiled "Stout Standards". He has been lobbying to stop some recent park closures and I believe he could help you with local clubs or web sites in the area. Hope this helps. Be careful with the Texas lawmen and HH. Thanks for the information!

I am confident that I will find some goodies on private land, or city parks......Laredo was founded in 1755, yep that's right 1-7-5-5, so there should be some old goodies along the way.....it looks like I might be there 2 or 3 months working in the aftermath of Hurricane Alex from June 25 of this year.

Last time I was down there in the valley, a couple of years ago, first run movies at the theatre were $0.50 cents to get in......unheard of back in the DFW area.....

Anyway, I want me some old schtuff from early Texican times.

Dennis, a Native Texan.....

but if you are into relics you should check out Bobby McKinney's book "A search for Texas" or Greg Dimmick "A Sea of Mud" either of those might give TX revolution leads for that area.
