Anyone use a Coinmaster Classic III ? or any of the old Coinmasters?

I recently picked up a Coinmaster 5900 Di Pro Series blue box. It's vintage
but it id's really nice and seems to have respectable depth when I fooled
with it in air testing. Have many detectors and just love trying many
brands vintage and new technology. Will take this gem out (really clean machine)
in the spring and take it on some sites I have hit with top of the line machines
and see if I can pull out some more nice finds. For me, just getting out and
doing some detecting with whatever decent detector is all I need. I do have
my main go to machines but every now and then I like hunting with some of the
many different machines in my arsenal!!! Different detectors for different situations... JMHO
There's a guy who does a Video on the Whites blue box 5900 Di Pro machine and it
beat out a few machines that surprised me. He did some side by side comparison I believe...
Good VID!!!!

Cheers guys :) great to hear some of the older machines still working well :).I love my Coinmaster!! it has beat the Ace Garrett 250 of my friends on many occasion (well on coins anyway). But alot of it is down to patience and technique as well :) happy hunting !!

I'm a new member & also new to detecting.
I'm using a Coinmaster 5000/D G.E.B. which is in excellent condition for it's age & still going strong.
I'm looking forward to using it a lot more now, it should be fun. I'm in Australia.

I use my coin master for the dry sand at the beach. Doe's a great job.

 My favorite metal detector of all time was the Whites Classic III. This was the one with the small square box approx. 6 x 6 inches or so. It could find gold rings ( even small ones) at 5.9 kHz frequency. Everyone was saying that I needed a higher frequency detector to find small gold but I did fine. The 4 inch coil I added later was excellent in the trashy areas. You can't go wrong with this unit.:detecting:

Cheers again guys :) yes theyre great machines and geat value for money!! Ive found no gold yet but havent had much time on the beach with it yet ! Happy hunting :)

I still use mine ,time to time.I always thought if whites would add a 2 tone id when switching to black sand mode ,they would have had one mean machine.

 I agree with you nibbler,...I always like tones. That's one reason I sold my Classic...no tones. Whites came up with the Prism Series that had tones. This was in response to Garrett's new Ace series. I just cannot figure out the logic of some of these engineers:shrug:

If u look at most companies over seas, just about all their non metered units have 2 tones. One for iron and another for everything else.I'm with you.Why in the world have just one tone?
Tesoro is the only company that still produces non metererd units. But only one or two have tone id.But doesnot offer ground balance in the disc mode.Thats a head scratcher.
So whites??How bout a light weight non metererd unit with tone id,and volume control and 10 turn ground balance.Oh and a fast recovery speed and fast target response.

Hi,
A simple primitive one tone detector in the hands of someone that knows that detector will produce more targets of value than a high tech multi tone buzz box in the hands of an amateur.
Now patience to learn their own machine is disregrettably something that many people are not willing to invest.
And these people will keep buying the newest fangled gadget thinking that there may be a short cut in the learning curve - in the end sadly to no avail.
I personally do not dislike people like that because they keep flooding the market with hardly used detectors that can be bought second hand for a fraction of new cost.
I like my Classic III Plus 2 filter unit and wouldn´t even dream of trading it for anything else.
It is not the cream of the crop - but in my hands it suits me just fine because I know exactly what its´strong and weak points are.
And that is what counts - not what somebody else thinks or says.
Investing time to learn your detector is better than chasing the rainbow for that non plus ultra rig - which does not exist.
Just my opinion

I began with a Coinmaster Classic II in 1991....still have it. A yr later I upgraded to the Eagle SL and used it for 10 yrs. Then I upgraded to a DFX and used it for 10-1/2 yrs. A week ago I purchased a Spectra VX3.....now I have to learn it, but will retain the DFX for awhile for its memories....Ahh, such memories, but better memories are with the Coinmaster Classic II.
