anyone with experience rebiulding a battery pack?

I took my Sovereign xs2 pro battery pack to Batteries Plus. I had a 700 mah pack and they upgraded it to 1100 mah for about $50. They did it in an hour. I priced the internet cost of the 10 AA's at about $25 not counting shipping, so I guess I paid about $20 for labor and know how and a guarantee and quick service. Seemed fair.

Check OBN/Joe Beachnut's youtube channel. He has some excellent vids on opening and sealing Excal units.

Like was mentioned..... batteries plus, interstate batteries, or even flee bay has them.

The GT battery pack is held together with some silicon as I had a bad pack I opened up and it slide open like the alkaline pack and had to work with it a bit to get it open. It has a circuit board in it for the charging of it and the batteries are 10 of the (not sure of the battery type) and thing it was a 4/5 battery or something like that which is a short fat battery. These are all soldered together, so I ordered in some and tried soldering them together and trying to make them fit, but when trying to get the cover on again I must have pushed something and it shorted out and it went up in smoke and melted the plastic.
If battery plus or interstate battery can do the job it is good to take it to them.
I took the case I had and use it for the connections to the GT and put some Velcro on it and put a 11.6 Lithium battery on it and use a special charger with it and seems to work OK and don't know how long it will last though as I only use it for a backup battery.

Maxxpack makes them as well i think and fact is you arent going to buy the 2500 mah and do it much cheaper...... and you arent going to melt the plastic.

I rebuilt the battery pack on my Sovereign GT... Pretty easy,,, Pretty much slid apart...Make sure to use plenty of flux and keep your soldering iron tip clean,,, I bought my (10) 1.2V Ni-Mh here: www.MCMelectronics.com 1-800-543-4330... Best of luck.
