Anything new regarding the Pulse Devil kit?? Enquiring minds...

Greetings all & sundry! Was reading through the old posts on various forums & it was said that the Pulse Devil will be available as a kit. EXCELLENT!! I remember, as a kid, looking through the old heathkit catalogues & trying to think of a way to convince my parents to get me a detector kit. I've been toying with the idea of building the PI1, but would rather put together something like the Pulse Devil (which would probably see more use). Unfortunately, the forums have been rather quite on this subject lately. Anyone know (Carl?) when the kit might be released & at what price? I'm not talking about set in stone, just ballpark. This way I can save up my pennies & do a little planning. Was also thinking about possibly getting an Infinium, but Carl's machine seems to be superior & why settle for second best, especially when one isn't made outta money. That's about it. Any info would be greatly appreciated...Will.

Yeah me too!
I'm very excited about the Pulse Devil as the new technology time has come. We need new solutions to our "Pounded" out gold fields.

P.S. On my next days off from work I'm going to have another go at ordering parts for Carls Kit. I need to find a source for buying resistors in single pieces unlike Digikey and Mouser where you have to buy in quantity, any help here?

Hi Randy,
I have included a link to a source for parts like resistors. You will still have to buy in quantities but the quantities are small and the price is right.
On a different note, I don't know if you have been following my posts or not, but I mentioned I had problems with my DD coil. Well, it appears I have found a simple solution for that one.
So, now it is off to finding a more reliable iron disc mode. Once that is done, I will have accomplished what I set out to do.

Where do you guys get your technical knowledge? Is this something that comes naturally to you or is there reading material to get this stuff?...Sounds as though some wonderful minds are beating out the manufacturers with ideas and tech know how

Reg,
I owe ya one for that! I never heard of Futurlec but it sure beats the heck out of messing with Digikey or Mouser. I sure do miss DC electronics though as they allowed you to order resistors in single pieces.
I noticed that Futurlec has the hard to find 7660 IC too.
Hey, I just might get this built yet! :>)

Mark,
I've been fascinated with Radio Communication since I was in early Grade school starting out with CB walkie talkies and then building my own crystal radio, getting my Amatuer Radio License as a Sophmore in H.S. and then taking electronics at a Jr. College and then job experience and experimenting at home. I know Reg got his B.S. in Electronics Engineering, but what got him started he will have to share.

Hello everyone. Time for an update on the Pulse Devil. The idea of a kit was kicked around a while back but not for a full blown Pulse Devil. The current updated design has been undergoing testing for the past few weekends. The upgrades were made to improve the detector in heavily iron infested areas such as the green fields of jolly old England. Some of these fields contain so much iron junk that I am convinced that you could make a profit by mining it.
The latest upgrades have been a 100% success!!! The discrimination is much improved and I am confident that Eric will soon be testing the design on his new test beaches. The work here has been greatly slowed due to that four letter word "WORK". The work and some other pressures have taken their toll on things. How Eric manages to find the time to design new detectors is beyond me!
The current design uses a Dual D coil. This and the ground balance control should make the detector handle hot ground a lot better than a mono coil. The discrimination control is fully variable just like a VLF's discrimination control. Even large shallow iron does not cause falsing now so I am hoping to be able to put the finishing touches on the detector this coming week.

I have seen a number of mentions in different forums about the pulse devil. This sounds very promising, especially the part-kit proposal. The obvious question is when?? how much??? where??
If the thing can do what you say, we all want one! Some answers please!!!!!
