April goldfields finds:detecting:

Golden

Hello all. Enjoyed a great days detecting last week and found some interesting relics once again on an old site I've been working on for a few years now. I decided to hit the lower half of a hill, detecting alongside it where there was evidence of trash and old glass washed down from the sites above, and was surprised at the relics I found there. Picked up lots of trash like roofing nails, nails, horse shoe parts and other iron rubbish which aren't included in the photos. I found a fob watch, first ever with the face plate , a lovely glass button just lying on top of the ground, saw it as I walked along, and other relics. It was great to be up the scrub and enjoy the solitude from suburbia!

Hello Golden, That glass button looks good, I must clean up some of my recent finds, about half could have easily fitted into the collection you posted I reckon. Have you done the dive course yet?

Good set of finds there Golden!! I love the watch face. It's so interesting with the Roman numerals, if I'm reading it correctly. Wouldn't you love to see what that looked like new? I wonder if a person could do some research and find pictures of that stuff when it was new. Maybe, but without knowing who the watchmaker is, it might be tough. Just a thought, but good day for you, and of course we're all dying to see pics and finds from your new venue of diving. (Obviously, I'm baiting you here), Take your time till you feel comfortable with it, but I'm certainly curious what new ground you might be able to cover with an aqua lung strapped to your back. Take care. Marc.
