Aquascan Aquapulse Question?

I haven't seen any discussion on this board of the Aquascan Aquapulse detector. Is it any good? How does it stack up to the top of the line PI's designed by Mr. Eric Foster? Would it be a good wet sand machine?

Hi Tom,
The Aquascan Aquapulse is one of my designs. It started out in the 1980's as an underwater detector for police diving teams, but then became popular with treaure divers. The manufacture was taken over by Pulse Technology until three years ago, when the design was sold to Aquascan, in Newport, Gwent, UK.
It is still a popular and versatile diving PI but, because of its primary application, hasn't the sensitivity to small gold rings and jewellry that dedicated beach and shallow water PI's have. Bearing in mind this limitation, it can be used for beach and land hunting for larger rings, coins and other objects.
It is handled in the US by Research, Search and Salvage in Key Largo, whose link I have put below.

Another authorized agent for Aquascan/Aquapulse in the US is E.O. Industries in Fort Pierce, FL. We are also authorized repair agent for Aquascan.
 
I am looking at a Aquascan pulse that is 7 years old AS A BACK UP FOR MY EX-CALL II( am looking for a stature that was droped in a lake that has at least 3' of silt).Any imput about buying this detector would help.THANKS

There is plenty of information on this forum regrading the Aquapulse. Based on what you are looking for (statue) then the detector is highly suited for an object that size. You may be up for a new (Nicad)battery depending on it's condition. The newer Aquapulse has a few changes such as smaller case, slightly updated electronics and the introduction of NiMH batteries. 3' of silt is quite a lot, so whether the statue can be detected or not at that range will depend on the size.
You can always contact Aquapulse in the UK for further advice or maybe to have the detector serviced, which is always a good idea......I have contacted them before and they are very helpful.
