Eric, On one of these posts I thought I read that the Aquastar/Deepstar is built to be upgraded. Is this so and what if anything is in the works? Also, if I buy one of these units who/where is your service/repair facility? Is it Mr. Bill? Thanks in advance for your reply! ED.
 
Hi Edward,
Yes, Mr Bill is fully competent to deal with service and repairs. He has the relevant test equipment and information to do this, and has successfully dealt with this important area on all my current products.
All products are upgradeable as improvements come along but there is nothing major for the Aquastar in the foreseeable future.

Eric, if a may, I would like to make a suggestion for any future modifications to the Aquastar. While reading the archives I learned that Terry in Hawaii did a lot of the beta testing on your prototype Aquastar and that the external frequency adjustment was added to allow the user to filter out RF interference (apparently there was a lot of interfernece on Hawaii) without impacting the sensitivity of the unit.
In my short 8 months of using the Aquastar I haven't needed to use the frequency adjustment, although I do detect near an Air Force base with some fairly powerful radars, and who knows what other transmitters. What I have found is that I do need to adjust the internal SAT and Sensitivity (7/8 turn) pots as I work different beaches. These adjustments, of course, require opening the case, brushing the sand off my fingers and hoping that I don't contaminate the pcb while experimenting with the settings.
It would be very useful to have these two adjustments available externally, although I do realize that more penetrations would increase the chances of a leak. Perhaps there is a way to install magnetically adjusted trim pots as I've seen installed in watertight pressure transducers. It would be great if small knobs would be installed on top of the case with the other external adjustments.
I've enjoyed the Aquastar immensely and especially enjoy being able to learn from the "Master" and others on this forum.
