Are spaces needed being each message is separated by alternating color bands ?

I'm looking at it in flat view. Actually it looks fine, I just thought some of the guys were asking about the extra space between posts, and the way I am looking at it, each primary thread is separated by alternating colors. The first has a white background, second message grey background, third message white background.
Which makes it very easy to read. I think the whole forum looks great, and it seems to be extremely versatile.
