Are the Head Sets that come with the Deus, water proof?

I hunt in the rain a lot lately (it's hunt in the rain,or not at all, the last two weeks). I've heard both ways that the head set that comes with the Deus is,and aren't water proof? I'm not going to use them under water, but like I mentioned,I do a lot of hunting in light rain/misty conditions. Or do I just need to use a poncho/rain jacket with a hood, and wear them under it?

I saw a video where somone put the backphones containing the headphone remote in a jar of water. Let them in there for a while and took them out and they were fine.

I sent you a PM of the link to the video.

Thanks, that pretty much clears that up!:surprised: I wonder if the main control pad is water proof also? Seems like it wouldn't be to hard to do?

They are water resistant thats based on nearly four years of detecting in all weathers without a problem.

I do put my hood up just to help things along. jerry.

Here are two videos that answer your question . . . not sure I would try the tests that they do especially with the car driving over my remote and even Alain at XP was a little taken aback (although he was impressed at the outcome), but it shows how durable the Deus is . . . . enjoy :)

Headphone underwater test

Deus Durability Tests . . . Don't try this at home . . . .

I personally would not submerge them in water. "Water resistant" and "water proof" do NOT mean the same thing! I mean, the unit itself is supposed to be water resistant but I wouldn't get it soaking wet to see if its true... I'd protect it in the rain just like any other unit I own. Unless it is expressed as water proof to 10' by the manufacturer, I would not do it. Lets use some "common sense" here guys.

The WS4 and WS5 headphones are water resistant and being caught in a shower will not hurt them according to XP. The optional headphones that accept the WS4 controller are not intended to get wet and need to be protected.

As has been said, just becuase something can be done does not mean some protection should not be applied and pulling your hood up makes common sense in itself . . . . I guess a Corvette can do 130 MPH but trying that in downtown New York will probably not produce the best results . . . . .

If you opt to hunt in rain for periods of time (and some people do to avoid crowds) or in the water, getting a set of waterproof earbuds and a waterproof case for the control unit or WS4 adapter plate is really your best route to take. I have some freinds that relic hunt exclusively and when they head into the woods, they pack these to protect their equipment if the skies open up

Thanks, for the information! I just couldn't understand why they would make the head sets, and coil water resistant(the coil is actually water proof),and not give any thought to the control unit? I don't really hunt in the rain,on purpose, but do get caught in,or won't quit hunting, because of a light mist,or rain. Here lately it has been hunt in the rain, when it slacks up or don't hunt at all!
