Are there compatibility issues between the X-1 probe and certain coils?

I was reading the adjacent thread regarding deep coils under 15" and I saw the following statement which made me wonder if there were any possible X-1 compatibility issues with certain coils:

Correct.....the Pro...It is very comfortable to use and even more of a pleasure to use when x-1 probe is not on....if you have a hand held pin pointer it comes in handy...but not using x-1 is a bummer....

I don't no if I am misunderstanding the comment but is there a problem or challenge using the Pro coils with the X-1 probe? If so is it also an issue with the SEF 10"x12" coil? I am interested in getting the 10"x12" and possibly the 4.5"x7" Excelerator but I use the X-1 inline probe and love it. If there are some kind of incompatibility issues then I'm afraid that I'll have to pass on these coils.

It is OK with the X-1 Probe as any coil will work that is made for the Explorer. Where the problem is is with the hand held Probes as many of them will interferer with the Explorers. I feel that is what the statement was as it is a bummer with anything other then the X-1 probe.

I would imagine they're referring to the added weight of the X-1 mounted on the shaft being an issue, rather than any electronic issue.

It shouldn't be possible for the X-1 to interfere with anything because it's controlled by a switch. So electrically speaking, you only have one coil in-circuit at any one time.

I have noticed at high sensitivities sometimes it likes to chirp and false on targets that are low conductive, or even some rocks.

Maybe some probes do have a problem with other MD but the Pistol Probe from DetectorPro does not have a problem with the Explorer line & E-TRAC

I think you are right on with what you said. It is an issue of weight versus say an electronic problem. It's funny how you can read something twenty times and it interpret it the same way each time and then someone suggests something else and you see it entirely differently. Thanks Chris.

I'm no expert by any means when it comes to electronics and if I have issues then I talk to the experts. After talking with Ralph at Sun-Ray awhile back he told me that the only thing the X-1 probes and the detectors that they are on is that they only share the ground wire and that's it. If some are having issues as to whether or not the X-1 probes are interfering with certain coils then they should talk to those who make them.

The X-1 is pretty compatible with most of the major coils, even the new SEF have no problems with them. The X-1 is a great probe. Most on here use one. Ed has some good advice.

The switch arrangement in the box selects one coil OR the other (probe), so the machine only sees one coil at any given time. Sharing a ground wire should not be an issue, since there is no way to complete a circuit with only one wire, so again the machine is blind to it. I too think the post was referring to a weight / bulk issue and not a mechanical / electrical problem. HH Joe

The X-1 has greatly reduced my recovery time and for the most part, kept me from scratching whatever I'm retrieving. Well worth the money. The only thing about them is you have to remember to switch the toggle back off again or you'll be chasing phantom signals that are originating from your tool belt. I still forget this from time to time and feel quite foolish when it happens.
