As A Kid, I Raided Pigeons But ......

I was a very keen bird breeder years ago and had extensive aviaries. In fact we bought a house with a very large yard just so we could build more of them.

Consequently I was aware of Bleeding Heat pidgeons.

These birds are native to Luzon in the Philippines where all sorts of birds are hunted mercilessly for food.

I worked in the Philippines over a 15 year period, often on the island of Luzon, and never saw one of them.

Pretty birds SS, thanks for the 411 on the birds C Nyal de Kaye interesting, I was in subic bay for a short period of time in Phillipines was you ever there?

I was never in the US base there Hank, but otherwise all over the islands over the years.

I was working with the local Churches in an educational sort of role.

Hey Nyal and Hank,
I was in the Philippines twice to visit friends and to see a little girl I use to sponsor, in an orphange. My last trip was to Subic Bay outside of Olongapo City. My first trip was to San Pablo City several hours south of Manila. Sure would love to return but can't afford it anymore. I'll always carry a special place, in my heart, for the Filipino people. Many of my good friends are Filipino.

My sister lived there for a few years. We also sponsor a little boy over there.
