Asking for help....(long)

This is a story - not me asking for help. May it bless those who read this.

There once was a man who was sitting on top of his house. There had been a flood and the torrents of water were rushing past. Only the roof was above water. He cried out to God "Help me God, provide a way to save me from this situation".

As the man continued to sit on the roof, a large board floated on the water towards him. He continued to wait and the board floated away. As he continued to wait, a large tree that had been uprooted floated toward him. The man continued to sit on the roof and wait for help. The tree floated away. Shortly after a man in a rowboat came to him and said to get in. The man on the roof said "No thank you sir. You see I have asked God to provide a way to save me from this situation. So I must stay and wait for God to send me the way." The man in the rowboat left without him.

Not long after, the house sunk into the waters and the man died.

We can see 3 attempts made by God to help him yet he didn't accept any of His ways to help. Don't we sometimes do the same thing? We ask for help from God, He provides and answer to our prayer yet we don't see it because it was too simple or we expected something 'miracluous' to happen.

The other day I commented that I had no fond memories of Christmas. Then yesterday I realized I did have a fond memory. Today I believe we all have more fond memories than we thought.

Shouldn't it be a fond memory when anytime God has answered our prayers, provided a way and saved us from our situation or ourselves? What if we fail to realize that fond memoried can happen from good times and bad times?
Certainly my life back in 1989 was a bad time, losing a good job, losing a long time marriage, etc. Yet out of that bad time there was a good time. Fond memories should be shared with others.

I recall a time when things were very bad. No money, no job, nothing to buy food with and even trying to do it myself there was no way to fix the situation. My family asked God for help. He provided. Should not the answering of prayers by our loving Father be something fond to remember? In this situation, the help He provided came through others that God directed to help. You all were that help last Christmas. I hadn't forgotten of your help. You blessed us so richly. Food and money to get us through our situation. Thank you all. Should this not be a fond moment to share with others of the love of Brothers and Sisters in Christ who freely gave of themselves and were instruments of God's plan to answer our prayer? Of course it is.

Other situations we ask God for help for we might call 'miracles'. Whether miracles, fond memories, whatever we deem them to be should be shared. Remember the light and that we are not to hide it under a basket? How can we show God's love for us if we cannot or will not share what He has done for us? We should tell others - let the light of His glory shine. In letting others know, we help build faith in our Brothers and Sisters. In letting others know we let non-believers see Christian's have a loving and caring Father and a Lord who has given us a new life.

So, let me say again Thank you for the fond memory of last Christmas and the love you had shown to my family. Let us not overlook even a simple answer to our prayers and let us share what God has done for us.

Shortly, I will have a part-time job doing janitorial work. This is an answer to my prayer to God for a job.
Thank you Father for your love and for your answering of my prayer for work.
