AT GOLD VS. Nichols

Since Feb. I have dug 186 nichols. For me that is a lot considering the older garretts I have used with no vdi or dd coil. I still work full time and only hunt on weekends. Everyone would agree lots of nichols vdi at 51-52. Out of the 186 , 60% came in 51-52 but the other 40% came in bouncing 47-57, but with good repeatable tone.Maybe because the 40% was on edge or lots of iron in and around good target, or who knows why. I always check and recheck grd. balance on every hunt. All these nichols were found in old hunted out parks. Lots of trash. I hunt in all metal mode or in disc1 depending on the trash.Found 1 V and 1 buff at an old railroad depot. The old parks is where the other v's , buffs, and 1 shield came from. No dought the old parks will give up old nichols if you will work the dd coil slow and from different angles. Read each target. They are there and the 8x5 will prove it. If you are not digging bouncing vdi with good tones you are missing targets. I am dissapointed that I have not dug any gold in the nichol range. If nichols bounce, I would assume gold could do the same. To clean old nichols soak them in worcestershire sauce for 24 hrs. It seems to bring them back to life. HH

Wow, that's an impressive collection of V's & Buffs!! Great hunting - you've obviously put in the effort to master your ATG!
