AT PRO and AT GOLD same COILS?

jmorton04

New member
I checked the Garrett website and the AT PRO and AT GOLD share the same part numbers. I can only see the coils for the AT PRO International, but I assume that the AT PRO and AT PRO International use the same coils.

So - I wonder what the functional difference between the 5X8 and the Super Sniper is? Would there be a good reason to own both?

Thanks,
John Morton

Because the machines run on different frequencies, the coils for each detector have to be purchased individually. The coils for the AT Pro will not work on the AT Gold. The 5" x 8" DD coil presently available for the AT Gold is not available for the AT Pro at this time.

John, the Garrett web site lists exactly the same part numbers for the 6.5x9, 8.5X11 and the 9X12 coils. The At Pro does not have the 5X8 coil listed yet.

I think this is the same between as with the Ace 250 and 350 coils.

:drinking::beers::buds::drinking::beers::buds::drinking::beers::buds:

Ace 350 - operates @ 8.25 kHz, Ace 250 @ 7.2 kHz and Ace 150@6.5 kHz and yet the coils are interchangeable, why are the part numbers for the AT Gold operating at 18 kHz exactly the same as the AT Pro operating at 15 kHz if they were not interchangeable or is there a mistake in the owners manuals concerning the part numbers?

I think they will be interchangeable, as their website is showing like coils for both machines with the same part #. The frequencies don't necessarily have to match 100%, especially with these newer digital machines.

Either way, I'd like to try that 5x8 coil on the ATP :detecting:

So, that sweet new 5" x 8" (14x20cm) DD coil should work on the AT Pro. No need to buy new coils when purchasing the AT Gold unless you want a different one.

Thanks John. Looks like there is a lot of interest in that 5X8 DD, including me :)

Anna Nicole Smith had a nice pair of Double D's , so good luck with your sweet interest:thumbup:

Ok, so the 5x8 DD is available and does work on the ATP?
In Pro mode I have air tested in the field a tiny tiny Piece of a 14k gold chain... came up as a 42 if memory serves.
In fact a tiny and I mean small bit, that would not register on a E-Trac.

That dude did find 4 large chunks of gold that day tho..

It was just when I first got the ATP and that guy was there when me and my son showed up and a little standoffish when I first said hello, so we let him have at it while we went down a ways...

He wasn't so shy after a bit and showed us his finds....

My boy came away with a nice '44 merc with a bounty hunter no less.\

He has an ATP now tho. Thanks to my ATP finds and Big Boys Hobbies.
Thanks again Bart.

I FORGOT TO MENTION..... IT wouldn't register on machine in standard mode, only in pro. pro zero, iron at 40 and iron audio on.
nice smooth mid tone at 4 inches in air.
