Hey guys,
I didn't get to go back to the school ground with the Gamma cause I helped my wife rearrange the "new" guest room (just vacated by my remaining adopted boy), and our room today. (yeah, that's really what I wanted to do today... but ya gotta keep peace in the house...) However I did get to go to the park at 3:00 and it got to dark to hunt at 5:30. I am learning how, through the way they sound, to discriminate some of those bottle caps with the DD coil. I dug them anyway just to test myself and I was right most of the time. There were some surprises... I was sure about a cap and it turned out to be a quarter... I called another one and it was a dime... all the others were caps that I called before hand. I suspect that there was iron so close that the sound that the caps make was mimicked by the good target. (that kind of "pop" or "tap" that is included in the sound, along with the tid jumping) The Greek series detectors are just fast enough to get that reading as you sweep the target. Even from different angles it still fooled me, which shows me that the only way to really be sure is to dig everything. Any way today's take was 8 quarters, one of which was mutilated by a lawnmower, 7 dimes, 21 pennies, (5 copper). Sens @ 90, GB@ 72, disc @ 20. It is both neat and disconcerting that I missed 4 dimes yesterday with my 505 that I found today with the Gamma. They were to deep for the 505 to pick up in disc mode in the wood chips, between 7 and 8 inches. The Gamma nailed all 4 in one sweep, sounded like the jackpot at a casino... ding, ding, ding, ding. I did dig 11 pulltabs and 23 caps ( 8 aluminum screw caps and 15 steel beer caps), 1 button, and 2 can slaw so trash/treasure ratio is about even. Better than average I suppose (for me) but I still have a lot of work to do before I will be satisfied. Thanks for looking and Happy Hunting everyone.
