I've been thinking the same thing. I think the AT Gold would be best for fresh water hunting.

I use both and the AT Gold is better for freshwater hunting. Finding small stuff i can just about see. The 5x8 coil works great.
When water hunting, the hunter who digs nearly all the signals gets the better results. The true all metal mode would give you the advantage because it's better sensitivity to tiny objects and increased depth compared to Disc 1 & Disc 2 mode. A positive threshold will also alert the user of a deep target under the coil or NEAR the coil.
