Those of you who have read my posts over the past 2 years probably already know that I have little trouble locking in the Excal on Gold and Platinum Bands. The Problem is I seems to find Men's Wedding Bands almost exclusively. I've decided to try and focus my hunting on finding Women's Wedding Bands with the Nice Sparkly Bits in them. Bands with diamonds make up on 2% of the Loot I've been finding and I would like to up that percentage considerably. I just can't believe that the men are losing the rings but the women are hanging on so tightfistedly to theirs that I can't find them, so the problem must rest with me and they way I've been hunting.
Roughly speaking I spend 80% of my time in the Mine, 15% of my time in the Lane and less than 5% of my time hunting the Wet/Dry Sand. (the balance would be smoke breaks I guess):smoke:

Here's How You Can Help. Would those of you who are having better luck with finding the 'Sparklers' PLEASE let me know where you are having the best luck? Mine, Lane or Sand??

Any and all Advice is Greatly Appreciated.

Kind Regards,

BDA:cool:

I generaly find that what you're looking for will be ankle to knee deep water. Young moms with their toddlers and those youngsters 5,6,7 years old will be near the edge where mom can keep an eye on them. What you (and everyone else) is hoping for is the mom holding her toddler while spashing him/her in the surf and waiting for the rings to fall off. Don't forget about the moms that sit at the waters edge with the little one waiting for a small wave. A lot of times you will see the toddler being held between their legs and moms hands aside of them in the surf and sand for balance just waiting for a wave to take the ring off.

Maybe it's time to take one day and start working the wet sand going toward shore while at low tide. It's worth a shot. :detecting:

I have found most of the smaller rings in the wet sand at low tide...........if you watch the women, most of them do not horse play and dive like the men, they like to sit in the water which is only inches deep and wave their hands around in the water.........off falls the rings. Also I have a SunRay 12" coil that works great on the Excal and finding small items. Observation of people and their habits will lead you to the gold and ice.

bda most of my ladies rings came from wet sand or shallow water weather it was salt or fresh water. Most of the mens bands were from knee deep to chest deep water. I work from the shoreline to chest deep working in and out with the waves. sometimes I work parallel to the shoreline in waist to chest deep depending on the wave size I have to deal with. Very little time in dry sand. HH

I have an Excal 1000 and (2) Whites Surfmaster PI machines. ALL of my diamond rings (14) total, have been found with my Whites Surfmaster PI unit. I have found gold with the Excal but they have all been wedding bands, class rings. Your beaches are pretty neat, clean, pristine with little trash. I'd try a Whites PI. I'll betcha you'll hit diamonds with it.

Happy Hunting!

I've found very few women's rings out deep. Stay shallow for them thin rings with sparklers.

Another thing, is that you'll want to pay attention to the lower signals. Thin rings tend to come in as foil, while the bigger men's rings you're used to finding come in as pulltabs.

It was as I suspected but it is one thing to have your own theory and much better to have your own theory confirmed. I think the problem is that I don't like the shallows and I hate digging foil tone targets. Time to make an attitude adjustment and get down to digging extra junk. No Pain - No Gain!

Thanks Again for Sharing Your Advice,

bda, I don't know if I would just give up the mine, but be open-minded about where you choose to hunt. If the deep mine is quiet, I head for the lane or shallow mine. There is just as great a possibility to find something in the lane at low tide, as in the mine, especially with your wave action. Greater chance of the fine ladies ring in the lane too. I have found ladies rings in the shallow mine, deep mine and lane. Mostly from shallow mine though. They are lower tones, as was previously suggested. Best of luck on the bling mate!
