Attn VA Beach Pirates - I don't fuel very well.

Lee - MI - MI

New member
I regret that due to the high cost of fuel we will be cancelling our planned trip to VAB the next week end. I figured we would put about 2,000 - 3,000 miles on our rig and at the current prices and projected petroleum piracy our fuel bill has doubled and at about 10 - 11 mpg, that is some big $$$.

I was really looking forward to meeting y'all and giving my sweet wife a chance to meet some really nice MDing people.

I will look forward to another time.

Lee

Man, Lee, I'm sorry to hear that. That pretty well sucks. My wife and I were getting ready to load up my Ford Explorer with my Minelab Explorer, my Excalibur, our two bikes, all our other gear, scoops, diggers, etc. and head down to Georgia and Florida on the 15th for a week. I was dropping her at her family's house and driving on the West Palm to see my mom and sister. Sis is big into detecting, so she and I were going to be doing a club hunt and outings to South Beach and a few other places. We decided yesterday that we have to scrap those plans. Now I'm putting her on a plane to go visit her family and I'll be taking my vacation here. Just me, the dogs, my Excal, and daily trips to the beach. Which isn't a BAD thing, but it's not what we had in mind. It surely sucks. But not as bad as living in Louisiana would...I guess we can be plenty thankful for THAT.

We need to conserve no only for everyone's good but to stop the greed of the oil barons who are unnecessarily skyrocketing prices. Gas station owner next to our business was told by the oil company that he had to have a check waiting for $27,000.00 if he wanted his gas shipment yesterday at wholesale of $3.00 a gallon.......and we are in CT.!!

I will be getting 8 MPG with my gas guzzling 454 engine.
I'll eat the costs, but I won't be doing any more trips til this gas thing settles down.
Looks like the current bunch in Washington is really showing their gratitude to those who helped them win re-election.
You can't say ol GW doesn't pay those he owes, where he gets the money is a different matter.
Did you feel his hand in your pocket?

Sorry to hear you can't make it. I was looking forward to meeting up and hunting with you. Maybe the cost of gas will settled down soon and we can get a rain check.
LTT

If the other guy was elected ; he would have confiscated your gas guzzling 8MPG monster, and issued you a mo-ped instead... Then you could have felt all warm and fuzzy....

Yeah, and who can foget John Kerry's 8 MPG Ford Excursion??? Oh, I fogot...HE didn't own it, it was "The Family's" vehicle. Like that excused HIM. Yeah, that's the accountability I want in my Commander In Chief. :puke:

Guess some of us can detect in our neighborhoods while those down South can even do that! What a disaster! Thoughts and Prayers for all those folks (most of them, anyway)! Did anyone see the interview with Tiger Woods today? Wow, did he say a bunch in a few words.

I will not be detecting for a couple of weeks unless I can talk the wife (or someones wife) into digging for me. Spent a few days in the local hospital this week and not only will they not let me go detecting, I can't even ride the Harley! That really sucks! I had all these great plans to ride it up the coast into NC this weekend with detector tied-on, but that went down the "whoopie-chute"!

Hope all (that can) have a great Holiday weekend and hope the "Surf God" is good to you!
