Audio cutting out on 705

Seen some earlier post about Xterra users having this problem. What was the resolution? My Xterra 705 volume worked fine today at first, then went faint, and then cut ourt completely. New batteries and resets did nothing. Tapped control box and it came back on. Waiting to hear from Minelab. This unit was purchased new in early 2012.

Headphones or without? If you had headphones plugged in, check to make sure the plug is clean and the contacts are clean in the jack. I've used rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab, with good results. (I always remove the batteries, just to be extra safe). IF it is the built in speaker, I'd suggest you may have a loose wire that connects that speaker to the board. If that is the case, you're wise to contact the folks at Minelab before taking apart the control box. JMHO HH Randy

This was without headphones today but on an earlier hunt where a buddy was using my Xterra, he said he wasn't getting sound in the headphones. We messed around with it a little and then he got sound so I didn't give it much thought afterwards until today. I did email Minelab and am waiting for a reply. Thanks.

I have had the same issue. The fine people at Minelab had me send it in and I have not had an issue since. It was only gone a few days. GREAT turn around time

I have had the same issue with mine but with headphones but I'll have to try cleaning the jack and the male connector

Mine is currently on its way back to Minelab.
