:ausflag:Where do I find gold rings

I would like to try and start finding some gold rings on the beach and I'm wondering which are the best locations to search. I know from other posts that its best to search the wet sand, but exactly where in the wet sand? Is it just below the high tide mark, right at the low tide mark or somewhere in between. Should I be looking for some signs, like where the waves have caused the heavier items like shells and small stones to accumulate. I think I read somewhere that where the black mineralized sand gathers is a good spot.

Would love to hear from the more experienced what they do to increase their chances of finding the elusive gold.:help:

I had hoped that more experienced beach hunters would have answered this question for you. The hottest ring zone that I'm aware of is at the low tide mark. The farther out you can go out in the water the higher the likely hood that you will snag a gold ring. This is because, when people are in the water, their fingers shrink due to the effect of water on their skin and the rings fall off.
I'm not a regular beach hunter, so my knowledge is quite limited, but if you look for where the water washes back out, check out the gullies it caused as heavy items like gold and coins will tend to accumulate in these areas.
If you go over to the beach hunting forum, you'll find heaps of knowledgible beach hunters there. Also, there are a number of books on beach hunting. Beachcoming with a metal detector by Keith Hetherington was recommended to me and I found it to be very informative. Cheap too.
Good luck with it.

To give you a right answer, we should see what "your" beaches look like. I live in Belgium, and I assume the beaches here at the North Sea are quite different than beaches down under.

Of course, one finds gold at knee depth in the water.

But first of all, look for gullies at both low and high tide marks. They are good places to start looking for rings. Rings and other jewelry will also be found at and around spots full with seawater at low tide.

Another trick, if you've got breakwaters down there, is to look along them.

And finally, do NOT neglect the HIGH tide mark, especially after a storm. Searching below the line of debris can be very productive in both coins and jewelry after a storm. And whenever you find gold at a particular high tide mark place, you may be confident you'll find gold in this area in the years to come.
