Auto Track (GTI 2500)

Hey everyone,
Im a bit confused as to Auto Track and automatic ground balance. Would using auto track "fast", would it allow you to turn the sensitivity up higher to achieve more depth while eliminating false signals? Is auto track used for all modes of operation including the discriminate modes? Is there any benefits if hunting in average ground conditions?

The GTI 2500 does auto ground balancing (auto track) in both all-metal and in discriminate mode.
Generally speaking, medium speed tracking best suits general hunting conditions, and will probably be what you'll normally want to use.
Slow tracking speed is good when there is little or no ground mineralization present. The tracking doesn't follow every little wiggle in the signal as readily, which may allow you to turn up the sensitivity and detect targets a bit deeper in good conditions. Dry sand beaches (without black sand) can benefit from this setting.
Fast tracking speed is best for highly mineralized and/or unevenly mineralized soils. It will give you smoother operation and reduce falsing, but will also tend to reduce sensitivity to small or weak targets because the faster tracking speed tends to track to them and "tune them out." This is not as bad as it sounds - Overall, this can result in better operation in poor ground, since marginal targets will be masked by heavy mineralization, anyway.
