Back To The Missouri Battlefield

Had the chance to hit one of my favorite spots. A Missouri CW battlefield. Hit three different parts of this large area. A large household garden spot, a large open hayfield with clean sandy soil, and a rocky picket post on a hill overlooking a creek. The darker bullets came from the garden area and the rocky soil. Lots of minerals. Used my F 75 SE and my new Blisstool detctor with a 15" coil, for the open field hunting. At the top is an advertising thimble with the words "HOLLAND FUrNACES make warm friends". What it was doing in the middle of a hayfield, far from any buildings, or hint of buildings (nails, etc.) is hard to figure. Below it is a nice complete General Services uniform button with a small crack on the bottom edge. It's hard to find complete buttons, anymore. Seems like I used to find more of them. Now, just backs and fronts. This one is complete with shank. On either side of it are two .69 cal. two ringed Rifled Musketoon bullets. Found about fifty feet apart. Always a good find. The coin is a 1910 wheat penny. The bullet in the bottom center is heavily chewed and came from the picket post area. Nice weather for hunting, but the forecast is for a wintery mix tomorrow, here in Missouri.

Way to go Jimmy. It is nice that you know some of the history of the area. I would love to have a CW site to discover and learn. I had a general service button crumble in my hands early this year when I wiped it to get a better look. In most soils they are really getting fragile. The thimble is a neat find. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah! Nice finds alright..a fellow must be hurting bad to chew up a bullet like that, gives me shivers to think about it.
