Back to the Saloon Token Site....

Howdy--

Monday was the first chance that I had to get back to that site where I dug the Fort Worth Saloon Token. I figured that there might be a few more goodies to be dug there. The heat (triple digit temperature) and overgrowth, I believe are the main obstacles in getting the goods at this site. My plan was to get an early start to beat the the mid-day sun and hopefully get in a 2 or 3 hour hunt. That was about all that I could hunt before I started to get dizzy - although those that know me probably wouldn't notice a difference hahahah.

This site has recently had a home removed so there is a mix of new coins and newer trash as well as some older trash and goodies. On this brief hunt I dug my share of memorials and clad but being in the oldest part of town and with that saloon token in mind, I was convinced that more good finds could be had. My beliefs were confirmed when I dug the merc and the 2 buckles. Then I got a solid 80-83 reading on my DFX @ 4". I was hoping for silver but I wasn't entirely disappointed to dig a small cache of 3 Merry Widows tins - there were 4 of them in the same hole. I scanned the best of the lot. On my way back to the truck to call it a day I got a mid 50's reading and dug the 1900 Indian Head Cent. A good way to finish the day! Best of luck and...

Happy Hunting!

Some guy his those Merry Widows so well, he himself couldn't find them. I guess you checked to make sure there weren't any coins stashed in those tins.

Nice finds!
