Back to town park. 1936 green river Whiskey token

Out hunting my park in town. Found this 1936 token. In 1937 the river flooded and all the homes were gone. never rebuilt anything there. I bet this was lost when the flood on the Ohio RIver happened.

Nalc, very interesting find. I live along the Ohio river about 3 miles from my house. They built a flood wall back in 1937 after the area flooded so bad and just a couple weeks ago we thought we would try and hunt along the flood wall but there was signs on every telephone pole staying " keep off the grass". Probably a lot of good stuff in there, I know the kids use to sled ride down the flood wall all the time.

Just what is listed to the left of the coin is the history. Hope to return tomorrow to unearth some more history. it seems I find at least one neat thing each time I go there. Here is a list of some of the stuff I have found in that area this and last year:

1. 2 Silver spoons
2. 1 pocket watch
3. 1 CW Button "I"
4, CW officer Buckle (buddy found)
5. 1853 Quarter (Buddy Found)
6. At least 5 flat buttons
7. Brass skeleton key
8 1 Gold Class ring 1958 10g gold
9 Lots of modern coins.

I just feel the variety of stuff found is ripe for an epic find. Will keep looking. There is at least 30 acres of land to hunt. Most of it is not used just farmland the town owns and uses as parking for our yearly festival. They do keep it mowed off which is good for me. There used to be at least 20 homes down there. So there is stuff scattered all over. Not much trash but some can slaw and some iron targets. Since the land used to be plowed for crops the items show up at all depths. It is always exciting to hunt.
